Weddings can so easily become overcomplicated. There are so many social pressures and family influences that can affect the expectations placed on your big day. That is why it is special when a couple settles into simplicity in a way that makes their day remarkably their own. Follow along for how this was accomplished through Alexandria and Ryan’s intimate backyard wedding.

When Alexandria and Ryan first reached out–we hit it right off. Following our initial conversation we soon found many connection points from great taste in shows to an appreciation for country music. By the time they shared their vision for an intimate backyard wedding I couldn’t have been more excited to work with them!

While the couple decided upon a small wedding, they still chose to include their immediate family in the celebration. Wearing the most beautiful wedding clothes, the couple committed their lives to one another on their farm. The couple stood surrounded by loved ones as their animals watched from nearby. This day was filled with the sweetest and most intimate homemade moments!

The wedding day’s events started with one priority: creating a normal day with the sweetest ending. Alexandria and Ryan spent their wedding day going about their ordinary lives knowing it would end with a ceremony at sunset.

Upon my arrival for this couple’s Ohio farm wedding, I found Ryan finishing up taking care of the animals while Alexandria was getting into her wedding dress. Ryan shared that he had inherited the farm from his grandma which made the day’s events more meaningful. Even the cake was made to highlight their cherished farm and beloved animals.

Once the families arrived, Alexandria then had an endearing first look with her brother who also walked her down the farmyard aisle. The barn was decorated simply with fall wedding ceremony decor including pumpkins, fall leaves, and fall wedding florals. With tears all around (including behind the camera!) these two exchanged their vows.

Continuing their intimate backyard wedding celebrations the couple went to a local bar where their first date had taken place. They captured photos surrounded by Halloween decorations beside the jukebox which played “Then” by Brad Paisley. It was the same song that played on their first date that became their first dance song!

Returning to the barn they enjoyed a first dance to their song bringing this love story full circle. They naturally were then joined by their two farm pups for some final photos. The newlyweds concluded the day by strolling down their beautiful animal pastures in the golden hour light. The sweetness and gentleness of this wedding will not soon be forgotten. Congrats, Bettchers!
