This couple was all over the place, but in the very best way. They spent their wedding day in different parts of the city taking advantage of all that Cleveland, Ohio has to offer. Their wedding photography started indoors with stained glass windows then headed outdoors to the greenery of a local garden. Follow along for how the couple spent their wedding day at these diverse Cleveland wedding locations.
The city of Cleveland is so accessible for couples who want a little bit of everything on their day. This is possible even when you start like these two did–right at home. The bride began at her Grandmother’s house getting ready alongside her grandmother, mom and sister. The groom was joined by his parents and later his groomsmen outdoors (one of whom he was a groomsman in their wedding) at his childhood home. The bride surprised her dad with a first look in the backyard.
Mikayla and Jimmy are exactly the kind of couple that anyone would dream of working with. They are kind, gentle, and undeniably in love. Most important to my role as their Cleveland wedding photographer, they trusted me completely. More than my own skills or how amazing the wedding venue is, I’ve found that my top wedding day priority is holding a client’s trust.
After months of planning together, by the time we reached the big day, Mikayla and Jimmy had full confidence in my ability to document their day well. It’s couple’s like these and prized spots like their Cleveland wedding locations that enable me to do my best work. The couple didn’t give me an extensive shot list to achieve and instead provided space for creative freedom.
This gallery is one of my all-time favorites! A lot of that is due to the artistic freedom coupled with amazing vintage Polaroids we captured throughout the day. I love having these as an inclusion in my wedding photography packages. Most importantly, these two were blown away by the gallery and the Polaroids too!
This incredible wedding day owes most of its stunning shots to the varying Cleveland wedding locations we opportunized throughout the day. All locations were within a short distance and very feasible to jump between. Even with the bit of exploring we enjoyed, it still was such a beautifully simple day.
We found the loveliest spots to tell every part of their wedding day story beginning with the church where their ceremony was held. The bride and groom exchanged vows in St Ignatius of Antioch, a Catholic church brightly lit with natural sunlight streaming through the stained-glass windows. Jimmy’s family has attended the church for several generations and his parents were also married there!
After completing post-ceremony wedding photos with family, the couple slipped away for bridal portraits at the nearby Cleveland Cultural Gardens. The gardens are nestled in downtown Cleveland and were magical for wedding photos even during the harsh midday sunshine. The trees balanced out the light providing great coverage and just the right amount of sun to slip through.
The gardens can also serve as a small wedding ceremony location but you would need a rain plan backup location such as the beautiful greenhouse nearby. Following their couples photos, the newlyweds also spent some quality time with their best man and maid of honor prior to the reception.
The day came to a close at the Ariel Pearl Center, a historic former banking building built in 1923. It features marble columns and flooring with floor-to-ceiling windows accented by crystal chandeliers. The couple spent the remainder of their time enjoying moments with family and friends followed by dancing the night away!
I feel so incredibly thankful for my very fun job that allows me to work with couples like Mikayla and Jimmy. From a slowly started morning to wedding moments captured on Polaroids, it was clear how thrilled they were to get married. I loved capturing these high school sweethearts who both have very kind souls.
The couple said that they were not photogenic in front of the camera, but surely their gallery makes them liars! Their wedding photos are just magically stunning. These Cleveland wedding locations were a majestic setting for capturing the truest and purest of love that a wedding photographer could hope for.
