While I love capturing every one of my couples, it’s sessions like these that stand out the most. The experiences where a couple is so comfortable in who they are together while being so clearly in love. That combined with getting to visit one of my favorite engagement photo session locations in Loundonville, Ohio makes for a perfect day! Without further ado, enjoy these Mohican State Park photos from Shaune and Koby’s adorable engagement session!
It says a lot about a place if it’s one that I keep returning to, especially when it’s on my own time! I brought my family along for some Mohican State Park photos as our family maternity session before having baby #2. With the number of locations the state park has to offer combined with my own growing local expertise, it always makes for a good time!
Mohican State Park is easily accessed at about 30 minutes from Mansfield and an hour from Columbus. The park hosts thousands of wooded acres with so many trails to explore throughout the park:
There are also overnight stays available at the Mohican Lodge or at campgrounds near Mohican State Park. This allows you to turn your session into a weekend adventure! Shaune and Koby’s wish was a relaxed session enjoying the outdoors and each other. This made for an adventure session that fit them perfectly.
The park offers so much variety for micro weddings, couples adventures, family portrait photography, and engagement sessions like this one!
I followed these two around as they simply enjoyed one another’s company while taking in the stunning scenery. This was a spring photo session which meant that the woods were flourishing with greenery while the fields were covered in knee-high grass.
I have captured sessions here in both warm and cold seasons from the fog to the bright sunlight. Each time these Mohican State Park photos showcase the park in new ways. My couples jump into the rivers, hike the mountain, run under the Covered Bridge and gaze past the overlooks. Visiting a park like this either gives my couples an entirely new location to explore or their favorite spots to share!
It’s a plus that no permits are necessary to shoot in the park, but you must keep in mind that cell service can be spotty. That makes it important to know your way around the Mohican State Park map. It’s a great idea to bring with you the screenshots of your navigation as a support. You can also just stick with me as I’m always happy to be both your Ohio state park photographer and guide!
When scheduling your trip to the park, I recommend being extra careful during the winter because the steeper roads may become slick and therefore a little dangerous. It also can become overpopulated in the spring when Ohio finally thaws out!
Following Shaune and Koby’s session, I was so looking forward to celebrating the lovely couple on their wedding day. Documenting this profound season in their lives from engagement to wedding day is such a gift to experience!
